comments: I am a recent (transfered schools in January of 2008) student of Readington Middle School and I find this completly uphauling. I still to this day can not find a deceant reason why this happened. The school officials vialated their rights and I am completly in shock (well not really I would sort of expect this from them but that is not the point). I hope that there is something that can be done to remove the 'offenses' from thoses students records.

comments: The handling of a recent and violent bullying incident where a child was thrown thru a glass window was "handled" by no "911" being called, the bully got one day's detention and was allowed to attend the subsequent week's social and field trip. The victim was "told" by Wilkinson that he did NOT get thrown thru the glass, as she attempted to "work" on this bleeding and upset child prior to his parents arrival. The victim required and still requires hospitalization and emotional counseling. When returning to school, the victim was instructed (as per Hollinger teacher meeting) to "put it in the past" and not permitted to discuss his injuries nor the incident further. In fact he was repremanded and stalked by his abuser in the halls. Regards the "Penny Project", teachers and staff were not only hostile towards the children, but insulted them as a group calling their behaviors imature and barbaric, to list a few. The administration cannot be trusted by our children, and therefore, we parents cannot put our trust and children in their hands. They lie to us and the media!!! There is no room for this rouge behavior from those we need and our children need to feel safe.

comments: The teachers and administration sound too strict.

comments: The basis of this petition is a total fabrication. The students were not protesting anything. They were involved in a prank that some adult after the fact turned into a protest. You can protest in today's society and you can also be arrested for it. The diciplinary issues are secondary and not true. Whoever brought this to the media's attention needs to seriously examine what they are teaching these kids.. Fame for fames sake is part of what is wrong in todays society.

comments: The unconstitutional and morally unjust actions the Readington School Board has taken are disgraceful. This country was founded on the premises of freedom and standing up for what is right. The most patriotic thing any of us can do is to speak out against this type of behavior. comments: I like Ms. Hollinger. She was nice about this and conducted a nice discussion the day after. I think it was more of Ms. Wilkonsons spur of the moment reaction and all of the rest of the administration was just following her. On the issue of personal property being taken and searched: My dad knows the law, and that was ILLEGAL. In fact, a school was sued for searching through a girls purse, EVEN when they suspected drugs were in the purse (which there was). NONE of the students intended for this outcome and the ADMINISTRATION made it this way. AND they totally lied to the media. Class-Action Law Suit.

comments: Who does the administration think it is? They CANNOT refuse pennies. They are legal currency. Only the US Congress can change that. How dare they usurp such powers. The administration of our schools has been in steep decline for the past decade. As a former student, I am shocked and outraged by their actions. I have half a mind to run for school board just to reign these clowns in. I may be 23 and working on my MA right now, but I KNOW I could do a better job than these yahoos any day of the week.

comments: i believe what you did had to be done. This is a good display of what kids really do have to say

comments: I don't care what these kids pay in. Readington Middle School has always been so harsh on every student. I graduated last year from RMS. I was happy to get out. I do not know a single person who wanted to go back. It was such a harsh ridden school. They need to take a step back and watch how they are treating these kids.

What is going on?? Are we not students of history here in Readington Twp. and are we all so wrapped up in our own busy lives that no one with standing to do so is willing to take the administration to task for this? School Board members, WHERE ARE YOU? You should be doing something about the administration's current attempts to sweep their unlawful actions under the rug. This is neither the former East Germany nor the former Soviet Union. Nevertheless, our school administration engages in revisionist history, white-washing of facts and flat-out fabrications to cover their fascist tendencies. To those of you who think the media should not be involved, ask yourselves how your lives might be different if ordinary citizens (yes, even kids) did not have access to a free and independent press. Then remember to vote.

comments: Pennies are legal tender. I do not go to this school anymore, but the kids that brought in pennies for lunch does not deserve them any such form of punishment. Everyone thinks this is all ridiculous on punishing the kids. They didn't do anything wrong, so why is it going on their permanent records? Honestly, RMS has some serious authoritative problems if they are punishing a bunch of 8th graders for paying for their lunch in pennies.

comments: As a parent of 2 children that have been raised in Readington Township during the last decade, I am amazed at the continued disregard our childrens for basic personal liberties. Our school system exemplifies 'Do as I say and not as I do' mentality.

comments: I think your children should be commended for their respectful, non-violent protest. My son had his head bashed in by another student at RMS and all the other kid got was 1 day of detention. How could this get two day's and possibly shcool trip's. What they are really mad at is that this got the publicity it did. God bless your kid's for standing up for what they believe in. I would be proud if I were you.

Role in The Community parent, taxpayerstop the bulling by socalled adults
comments: stop the bullying by socalled adults and people who are supposed to have our childerns best interst in mind get out and vote these people out but do not turn down the budget this will only hurt our children and maybe our property value because people will not want to come to a school district that treats their children with disrepect.

comments: Readington Middle School is one of the sending districts to the HCRHS. Being from another sending district and friends with some of the students, I find this an unfair situation. Students did NOT violate any rules
